Hyderabad: A 33-year-old man suffered a deep cut on his shoulder after he came in contact with Chinese manja while travelling on a bike in Gachibowli on Sunday. He was rushed to hospital, where he underwent a procedure to suture the wound.Around 1.30pm, K Surya Teja, a resident of Miyapur and who works for a software company in Gachibowli, was travelling on a bike after attending office. As he was on SLN Terminal flyover, he felt a sharp pain and discovered a bleeding injury on his shoulder. He immediately realised that a snapped string might have come in contact with his body.

Later, his friends came to his rescue and shifted him to a private hospital in an ambulance. Teja was treated in a hospital at Madhapur, where doctors sutured his wound. "He was admitted as an in-patient and is undergoing treatment,'' hospital authorities said on Sunday night. Later, Teja also lodged a police complaint.Meanwhile, Task Force sleuths have nabbed a kite shop owner from Kalapathar for allegedly selling Chinese manja. Police seized 345 bobbins worth 6.90 lakh from the shop of Mohammed Shazaib.
"To earn quick money through illegal means, Shazaib procured the banned Chinese manja through his associate Vikram Mehta, a native of Karnal in Haryana," police said. A criminal case was booked against him and later arrested.Similarly, in Suryapet district, police arrested six persons for selling Chinese manja. Police said that they were caught during surprise checks.Though it was found that kite sellers were not overtly selling the banned Chinese manja, police suspect that vendors were clandestinely striking deals with customers.
