Rain Drops Media shared a heartfelt post on X about Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III. While playing for the Missouri Tigers, he told his girlfriend, Kendall Minglae, that he was a bench player.
She had not researched him and was unaware that he was a standout wide receiver. One game, Burden called her to watch him play. He surprised her with five touchdowns. She was left dumbfounded.
Kendall Minglae side eyes Luther Burden III
In a video clip shared by Rain Drops Media on X, Minglae is heard saying, “He told me he was a bench player when I met him coz I didn’t know nothing about football, I said, ‘What position do you play?’
He said, ‘The bench,’ *side eyes Luther* But he was the #1 receiver in the country. I didn’t do my research, so he told me to come to a game, and he had like five touchdowns that game.”
Underplaying talent
“Classic case of underplaying your talent. She showed up for the benchwarmer and ended up witnessing a superstar. Love that for them,” wrote one X user after watching Kendall Minglae talk about the Chicago rookie star.
Another complimented Burden, saying, “He knew how to see if she was a real one.” A third user said, “Support is all it takes sometimes.”
Luther Burden compared to NBA legend LeBron James
A fourth user compared Luther to LeBron James, the NBA legend: “Boy really said "I’m average" then went off like LeBron with a football.”
A fifth user described their first-date story with plush words: “Talk about a masterclass in modesty! Luther Burden had himself a legendary day, and his girlfriend’s loyalty was rewarded with the shock of a lifetime. That’s a first date story that’s downright impossible to top.”
Girls always do their research
A user spoke professionally: “She said she didn’t do her research. She knows its a business. It could’ve ended bad for her by not researching the job she applied for. She was smart. She went to the interview anyway. And got the promotion.” Another praised the effort: “It’s always dope to tell somebody you’re trash at sports and then show out.”
A third user shared, “When someone believes in you on the bench, they deserve you in the end zone.” A fourth user declared, “Girls always do their research. Shes lying lol.”
A fifth user commented, “That’s a real one right there [laughing face and red heart emojis] Pulled up thinking she was supporting a role player and ended up watching the best WR in the country go crazy. You love to see it. Loyalty unlocked [football and fire emojis].”
