Hubballi: Govt aims to make the state drug-free, and the goal of the police marathon was to take strict action against the drug network, deputy commissioner R Snehal said in Hubballi on Sunday.
Inaugurating the police run marathon organised under the title ‘Our police is our pride', under the themes ‘Fitness for all', ‘Drug-free Karnataka' and ‘Cyber crime awareness' near Tholanakere in Vidyanagar, Hubballi, she said protecting the youthtoday from drug addiction and maintaining law & order in the state was the priority of the govt. She said the purpose of the marathon was important.

Speaking to media, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that recently, people were not aware of fitness, and many youth were getting involved in drugs and ruining their lives. With such issues in mind, 5km and 10km marathons were organised, he said.
Dharwad Superintendent of police Gunjan Arya, DCP (crime & traffic) CR Raveesh, police officers, college students and others were present.
