Parents urge DDPI to retain principal of SBMJ residential school in Belagavi
Belagavi: Parents of students studying at Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain English Medium Residential School, Mahaveer Nagar, Bambarge, Bhutaramanahatti, on Wednesday submitted a formal memorandum to the DDPI, urging the authorities not to remove the school principal, Nisha Rajendra, from her post following a recent isolated incident involving a few students. In their appeal, which was signed by more than 200 parents, they stated that they have known and closely observed principal Nisha Rajendra's functioning for the past 10 to 15 years. They described her as a highly disciplined, dedicated and strict administrator, whose approach, though occasionally misunderstood, has consistently been aimed at the academic, moral and overall development of students.Referring to the recent controversy, the parents said the incident involved only four students and appeared to have arisen out of a misunderstanding. They emphasised that such an isolated episode should not negate the principal's long-standing service and contribution to the institution. The parents said Nisha Rajendra has played a key role in bringing discipline, stability and consistent performance to the school and has earned the confidence of hundreds of parents. "For many parents, she is the face of the institution and a source of assurance regarding their children's future," the letter stated.
The parents warned that removing the principal could adversely affect the academic environment and put the future of nearly 800 students at risk. Such a decision could lead to a decline in student performance and dent the confidence of both parents and teachers in the institution, they added.Instead of taking what they termed as an ‘extreme step,' parents suggested that the issue be addressed through personal discussions with the concerned students and parents, rather than escalating the matter. Responding to the parents after receiving the memorandum, DDPI Leelavati Hiremath assured them that she would forward their representation to the school management.
