No LPG shortage in Mizoram: IOCL
Aizawl: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) officials on Monday said the war in West Asia has not caused any shortage of cooking gas or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Mizoram, dismissing rumours and urging people not to worry.Addressing media persons in Aizawl, the officials said some technical snags have emerged while trying to ensure systematic home delivery, prevent loss of LPG cylinders and ensure timely delivery. They appealed to residents not to panic due to the exercise.

At present, over 8,000 LPG cylinders are being delivered daily to 2.97 lakh families in the state, the officials said, adding, “The current condition prevails as before the West Asia war.”They urged consumers to use digital booking through SMS and IVRS and to prioritise the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC), saying no cylinder will be delivered in future without obtaining the DAC.The officials said coordinated efforts by IOCL and the state government to prevent hoarding and black marketing have helped stop attempts by “unscrupulous elements” to carry out malpractices, and that a mechanism to prevent such practices is in place across the state. They again appealed to the public to avoid panic buying, saying the situation remains normal. The press meet was organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the state Information & Public Relations department and IOCL, and was attended by LPG distributors.
