Aizawl: Police officials in Saitual district bordering Manipur have seized methamphetamine tablets (45.541 kilogrammes) worth over Rs 46.23 crore during the last two days, a senior state police official said on Wednesday.
The official said the first consignment, weighing 10.118 kg (90,900 tablets), was seized on Monday by Saitual district police personnel at Keifang town.
The contraband was concealed in a car.
The second consignment of methamphetamine, weighing 24.284 kg (2,02,000 tablets), was found concealed inside a car at Keifang town at around 3pm on Tuesday, while the third consignment, weighing 11.139 kilogrammes (1,01,000 tablets), was seized at Keifang town again at around 7.15 pm on Tuesday.
Police arrested three suspects — Seiminlien Kholhou (27) of Muolnuom, Mahur, North Cachar Hills, Assam; Hrimsangliana (27) of North Tinghmun, Mizoram; and Hmangaihzuol Hmar (25) of Jirimukh, Jiribam, Imphal East, Manipur — in connection with the three seizures. They were booked under section 22(c)/25 of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at the Saitual Police Station.
