Interior designer injured after cars collide near Trump Tower in Gurgaon
GURGAON: An interior designer suffered serious injuries after two cars collided in Sector 65, causing one of the vehicles to veer off the road and hit him while he was eating at a roadside stall.
The incident occurred around 1 pm on Feb 10. Rakesh Chand, a resident of Ramakrishna Puram in Delhi, was working at a project site at Trump Tower in Sector 65. During his lunch break, he was seated at a food stall nearby when two cars — a white Tata and a Renault Duster — collided.
According to his complaint, the Tata car struck him at the waist with force, knocking him to the ground. Bystanders tried to help him, but he was unable to stand due to severe pain. A colleague rushed him to Park Hospital in Sector 47, from where he was later shifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. Doctors treated him and performed surgery on his right leg.
Police said they received information on Feb 10 about an injured man admitted to Park Hospital following a road accident and collected the medico-legal case report. "As Rakesh was later shifted to AIIMS, a police team met him there on Feb 12 to record his statement, but he sought time due to his medical condition", an officer said.
After his discharge, police recorded his statement at his residence on Feb 17. Rakesh identified the white Tata car in his complaint and said that it was the white Tata car that hit him.
Based on the complaint and medical documents, an FIR was registered against the white Tata car driver at Sector 65 police station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125A (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS.
