Gurgaon civic body asks RWAs to cooperate with Census 2027 survey, obstruction to invite action
Gurgaon: MCG has asked RWAs to cooperate in the Census 2027 survey. A letter issued by the MCG commissioner and principal census officer, Pradeep Dahiya, has asked them to allow census personnel to enter houses for the work after verifying their identities.
Directions have also been issued that no unnecessary obstruction, delay or hindrance of any kind be created in the discharge of census work. Under Section 11(1)(AA) of the Census Act, 1948, legal action, including imprisonment, can be taken against persons obstructing the work, the order stated.
Dahiya convened a meeting on Sunday to discuss the progress of census work. He was informed that more than 500 supervisors and enumerators were found absent from duty and training for the census work. It was decided that notices would be issued to such employees under the Census Act and legal action would be taken against those who fail to respond.
All departments and institutions were directed to ensure their employees join the census work immediately. Absent supervisors and enumerators were directed to attend training from May 5 to May 7, 2026.
Officials said grievance cells will be set up for each zone to review the work daily, conduct field inspections every Thursday and submit reports every Friday.
A census management cell has also been constituted at the commissioner’s office. Chaired by the commissioner, the cell will ensure monitoring and coordination during census work and resolution of complaints.
“Census is an important foundation for the country’s development and formulation of plans. So, all RWAs and residents are expected to adopt a cooperative attitude,” said Dahiya.
