Goa Election 2022 Updates: 78.94 per cent tentative voter turnout recorded

Goa on Monday registered a high voter turnout of 78.94 per cent in polling for the 40 assembly seats. Electoral fate of 301 candidates were locked in EVMs which will be opened on March 10 for counting. Stay tuned to TOI for all latest updates.

Goa Assembly polls: 44.62 pc voter turnout till 1 pm
Goa recorded 44.62 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm on Monday as polling was underway for the elections to 40 Assembly seats in the coastal state, as per the Election Commission's data. So far, the highest turnout of 54 per cent was reported in Sankhalim (North Goa) Assembly segment, from where Chief Minister and BJP leader Pramod Sawant is contesting. Besides, Sanguem constituency in South Goa recorded 53.91 per cent polling till 1 pm, while Valpoi Assembly segment reported a low turnout of 39 per cent, as per official figures.

Aam Aadmi Party's Goa Chief Minister candidate Amit Palekar cast his vote in the Goa Assembly elections on Monday and said that this is the moment to bring a change. He was accompanied by his mother. Confident of bringing about a change, Palekar said, "People are voting enthusiastically to defeat corruption, we will witness a sea-change. Let's wait for March 10 results."
