Firefighters must be fit, says CM at launch of new Valpoi building

Valpoi: Physical fitness is essential for firefighters to perform their duties effectively, said chief minister Pramod Sawant after inaugurating a new fire station building at Valpoi on Wednesday.

The new fire station has recreational facilities, including table tennis, carom and other indoor games.


Built through the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), the station has advanced operational infrastructure with a bay for two water tenders, a rescue tender, ambulance and motorcycle rapid response units, a fully equipped control room and turnout facilities for uninterrupted readiness, a gymnasium, dormitories, and a drill tower.

Sawant said the complex has a multipurpose hall for conducting training sessions and capacity-building programmes, ensuring continuous skill enhancement for fire personnel.

Town and country planning minister Vishwajit Rane, who also attended the function, said after a long wait, the taluka has got a fire station.
