Bicholim police arrest driver in hit-and-run case

Bicholim: Bicholim police on Monday arrested Nilu Gaonkar, 42, a resident of Madhlawada Shirgao, who drove the car that was involved in a hit-and-run case that took place in Muslimwada, Bicholim, on Sunday.The complaint in this regard had been lodged by a scooter rider, Maleshi Basappa Talwar, 41, a resident of Vathadev. According to Bicholim police, the car driver was heading from Sanquelim to Bicholim when he collided with the oncoming victim’s scooter. Due to the impact, the victim fell to the road and sustained bodily injuries. The accused failed to provide medical assistance to the victim and fled fromthe scene.The police acted swiftly to catch the accused.
