Bicholim: Bicholim police on Wednesday evening arrested Sagar Ramesh Rawool, 34, a resident of Malaiwadi-Shirshinge, Sawantwadi, for the alleged murder of Shaila Sanjay Ghadi, 58, that was allegedly committed on May 19.
Bicholim PI Vijay Rane Sardesai stated that as per the victim’s son, Shubham’s, statement, Rawool committed the murder due to a personal grudge after his marriage proposal for the younger daughter was rejected by the mother.
On May 19, Rawool allegedly murdered the mother after a verbal spat during a visit to her house. Rawool hit Ghadi’s head on a wall and fled from the scene with her mobile phone and a gold chain.
Based on the complaint lodged by victim’s son, Shubham, Bicholim police formed multiple teams under PI Vijay Rane Sardesai and dispatched them to various locations, including Sawantwadi, Kolhapur and Mumbai. Through technical surveillance and co-ordinated efforts with crime branch unit IV of Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar police commissionerate, Maharashtra, the accused was found to be in Thane, Mumbai.
He was subsequently arrested at Kashigaon police station and was produced before JMFC Mira-Bhayandar, Thane, for transit remand on May 21. He is being brought to Bicholim police station for further investigation.
