New Delhi: A 75-year-old woman in northwest Delhi’s Rana Pratap Bagh was allegedly robbed of jewellery worth around Rs 25 lakh by a woman who worked in the locality ironing clothes. The accused was arrested and the stolen items were recovered.
According to police, the family was saving the jewellery with the intention of converting it into a fixed deposit. When they found the items missing, they alerted the police. A case was registered.
“During the initial inquiry, suspicion fell on the woman, a resident of Kabir Nagar, who had access to the house,” said DCP (northwest) Akanksha Yadav. She had reportedly visited the house shortly before the theft and went missing thereafter.
