Control room set up for smooth conduct of house-listing
New Delhi: The New Delhi district administration has set up a dedicated control room to ensure smooth conduct of the ongoing houselisting operations for Census 2027, officials said on Tuesday. The facility is aimed at real-time coordination with officials deployed for the exercise, and provides them police assistance when required.The houselisting phase is currently underway only in the New Delhi district. It commenced on April 16 and will continue till May 15. Authorities have divided the district into 578 house listing blocks (HBLs), with 482 falling under nine charge officers in the New Delhi sub-division and 96 under one charge officer in Delhi Cantonment sub-division.A total of 578 enumerators, along with their supervisors, have completed the preparation of physical layout maps, a key preliminary step before enumeration. The exercise has gathered pace over the past few days.“Out of the 578 HLBs, work has begun in 258 blocks, and around 4,600 buildings have been enumerated so far,” an official said.The govt has planned to start self-enumeration for all of Delhi’s 250 MCD wards from May 1 and the houselisting operation from May 16 onwards.
