Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s state cyber crime unit has saved over Rs 10 crore from being transferred to cyber fraudsters in the first four months of 2026, SSP (cyber crime unit) Ajai Singh said on Saturday.
“The amount was saved while acting on complaints received on the 1930 helpline. In one of the cases reported in the last 10 days, a complainant lost Rs 47 lakh in an online investment fraud. Police managed to hold Rs 3.7 lakh, while the rest had already been transferred to the accounts of the perpetrators,” Singh said.
In another recent case, police froze Rs 1.1 lakh out of Rs 1.6 lakh lost in a
cyber fraud. “We urge people to report cyber crimes on the 1930 helpline immediately after falling prey to fraudsters. The earlier the complaint is lodged, the higher the chances of saving the money,” Singh added.
