GB Pant varsity VC recognised for research at nat’l dairy industry meet

Rudrapur: Vice-chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Prof Manmohan Singh Chauhan, has been honoured with the prestigious Prof MR Srinivasan Memorial Lecture & Oration Award at the 52nd Dairy Industry Conference in New Delhi. He was also awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for his outstanding contribution to dairy science and agricultural research.Since his assumption of office on Aug 29, 2022, the university has reached new milestones. The institute climbed 152 places in the QS World University Rankings by subject, securing the 209th position, and earned an ‘A' rating from Indian Council of Agricultural Research's peer review team. During his tenure, 4,809 students graduated across three convocations, while researchers developed 15 new crop varieties and secured 19 patents. Infrastructure developments in the university include — the General Bipin Singh Rawat school of hill agriculture, a 225-bed hostel, wellness facilities and enhanced surveillance. The university also organised five All India Farmers Fairs, witnessing participation from 98,500 farmers and generating Rs 3 crore through seed and plant sales."This recognition reflects the collective effort of our faculty members, scientists and students," said Chauhan. "We remain committed to academic excellence, innovation and farmer empowerment." The three-day conference, held from Feb 12 to 14, was organised by the Indian Dairy Association aimed at providing a platform for dialogue in dairy innovation, collaboration and growth in India's dairy sector.
