Stalin inaugurates bronze statue of singer and actress K B Sundarambal in Erode
Erode: Chief minister M K Stalin unveiled a bronze statue of K B Sundarambal at Kodumudi, her hometown, near Erode via videoconferencing on Sunday.Ministers P Muthusamy and M P Swaminathan, MPs Prakash and Anthiyur Selvaraj, and others participated in the event. Sundarambal's relatives and theatre artists expressed their gratitude for accepting their long-standing request and erecting a statue for Sundarambal.

She was praised by the late former chief minister M G Ramachandran as ‘Kodumudi Kokilam.' Sundarambal was a famous singer and actress. She was also the highest paid actor in Tamil cinema when she was at the pinnacle of her acting profession. She acted as ‘Avvaiyar' in the famous Tamil film with the same title. She built a cinema hall in her hometown in 1968. She served as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in 1958 during the Kamaraj regime.
