Class XII student ends life in Coimbatore over disappointment with board result
Coimbatore: A 17-year-old girl died by suicide in the city on Friday. Investigation revealed that she was depressed over her Class XII board examination results.The deceased was identified as R Yazhini, 17, of Thangammal Nagar near Ganapathi in the city.Police said she was depressed over scoring only 454 marks in the board exams. Despite her family members offering words of encouragement and consolation, the teenager remained in a state of mental agony for several days.On Friday, while she was alone at home, Yazhini attempted to end her life. However, her family members rescued her and rushed her to a nearby private hospital for emergency care.She was subsequently shifted to another private hospital for advanced treatment; however, doctors there declared her dead on arrival.Saravanampatti police have registered a case and are investigating further.
