Torso found at Perambur railway station: Probe continues
Chennai: The Govt Railway Police and the Greater Chennai Police have constituted eight special teams to investigate the recovery of a male torso from an abandoned suitcase at Perambur Railway Station. Despite extensive efforts, investigators have not yet identified the victim or traced those responsible for the crime. The body, without the head or limbs, was found stuffed inside a blue suitcase that had been left on a staircase at the rear exit. The Otteri police collected footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras from surrounding areas to trace the movements of suspects. However, there were no cameras near the staircase where the suitcase had been left. The absence of identifying body parts has further complicated the investigation.Meanwhile, nearby police stations and railway police units have been asked to keep a lookout for any missing man aged around 35 reported within their jurisdictions. The State Crime Records Bureau has also been asked to provide details of missing persons cases registered since last week.Officials said they have not yet received any information linking the recovered torso to a reported disappearance. The investigation is continuing.
