Teachers ransack school during stir

A retired teacher was injured after he got caught in a scuffle between agitating teachers and management functionaries of Sir M Ct Muthiah Chettiar Boys High Secondary School in Purusawalkam on Thursday. The retired teacher, V Govindarajan, visited the headmaster and questioned the protesting teachers. The argument got out of hand and the teachers ransacked the school.

Chennai: A retired teacher was injured after he got caught in a scuffle between agitating teachers and management functionaries of Sir M Ct Muthiah Chettiar Boys High Secondary School in Purusawalkam on Thursday. The retired teacher, V Govindarajan, visited the headmaster and questioned the protesting teachers. The argument got out of hand and the teachers ransacked the school.The teachers were protesting during lunch-hour because a notice was issued by the management asking five teachers to state reasons for not following the time table. Ravi Shankar, the headmaster, said, “The teachers broke glass panes and tried to create unrest among the students."A teacher working at the school said, “We planned a silent protest but when the retired teacher intervened things got out of hand. The management is targeting a few teachers for spearheading a protest.“
