In today’s world, we are constantly surrounded by news about floods, accidents, mob violence, and cruelty towards humans and animals. Actress Shubhangi Atre, best known for her role as Angoori Bhabi in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai,shares how this affects people’s mental well-being. “Honestly, seeing so many tragic incidents every day can really affect your mind,” she says. “It makes you feel sad, scared, or even helpless at times. Constantly reading about floods, accidents, or cruelty can weigh heavily on anyone. I think it’s natural to feel emotional because we are humans and have empathy. It’s important to acknowledge these feelings rather than ignore them,” she adds.Shubhangi also talks about the double-edged nature of staying constantly informed. “I feel it can be a little harmful sometimes because we see so much suffering and can’t do anything about most of it,” she explains. “It can make us feel stressed or anxious. But at the same time, being aware also helps us stay informed and understand the world better. It’s about finding a balance so that the news doesn’t take over our peace of mind,” she adds thoughtfully. When it comes to coping with negative news, Shubhangi says she tries to handle it in a healthy way.
“When I read or hear sad news, I try not to let it stay with me for long,” she shares. “I talk to my family or friends about it, do something creative, or focus on work to distract myself. I also try to remind myself that I can’t control everything, but I can do small things to help in my own way. That helps me stay grounded and positive,” she adds.Shubhangi also offers advice for individuals on balancing awareness with mental peace. “I think it’s important to stay aware but also take care of your mental health,” she says. “Limiting the time you spend on news, choosing reliable sources, and not getting too absorbed in social media helps a lot. Practicing gratitude, meditating, or spending time with loved ones can protect your peace. We can care about the world, but we also need to care about ourselves,” she concludes.
