The Odissi Dancers Forum presented
Shradhanjali 2025 , an evening dedicated to the memory of two stalwarts of Indian classical dance — Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Sanjukta Panigrahi. The annual tribute brought together senior maestros and promising talents on one stage, in a seamless celebration of Odissi’s rich tradition and evolving spirit.
The programme opened with invocatory numbers, setting a tone of reverence and grace. Among the distinguished performers were Rajasree Praharaj, Preetisha Mohapatra, Guru Rajib Bhattacharya, Arpita Venkatesh, and Dona Ganguly with her troupe, each bringing their distinct artistry to the evening. Their performances not only showcased the discipline and lyrical beauty of Odissi but also highlighted the continuity of the guru-shishya parampara.
A highlight of the evening was Avirup Sengupta and his troupe’s interpretation of
Dura Stuti from
Chandi, followed by a powerful presentation of
Lokaita Durga Stuti. Their choreography, marked by innovation within the traditional framework, earned resounding applause for its energy and devotional depth.
The event was graced by the presence of Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, torchbearer of Kelucharan Mohapatra’s legacy, and Arundhuti Roy Chowdhury, both of whom lauded the efforts of the Forum in uniting the Odissi fraternity.
With veterans and young dancers sharing the same platform,
Shradhanjali 2025 reaffirmed the timelessness of Odissi while paying homage to two pioneers whose contributions continue to inspire generations.
