Burglar escapes from custody; re-arrested within hours
Chennai: A 19-year-old burglary suspect, who escaped from the Neelankarai police station during interrogation, was recaptured by a special police team on Tuesday. The accused was arrested earlier in connection with a house burglary in Injambakkam along East Coast Road.Bicilin Ann Aldrin, 38, an electrician employed at a deemed university on Old Mahabalipuram Road, lived in Injambakkam with family. They found their house broken into on June 1 and realized that ₹30,000 was missing. Aldrin lodged a complaint with the Neelankarai police. Police arrested Vishal alias Bablu, 19, a resident of Ezhil Nagar near Perungudi. While in custody, he managed to escape. After several hours of search, the team tracked him down. Probe is on.
