Assam worker lynched in TN for 'misbehaving' with woman

CHENNAI: A worker was beaten to death by a mob after he allegedly misbehaved with a woman in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu Friday.The deceased was identified as Prosenjit Das (35) from Kamrup district in Assam. Police said he was among the six workers who had arrived in Tiruvallur Wednesday in search of employment and had rented a room.According to police, Prosenjit, who was under the influence of alcohol, approached a woman who was alone at home and asked for water. When she refused and attempted to close the door, he allegedly tried to misbehave with her. The woman shut the door and went inside. But Prosenjit damaged the windowpanes with a knife. The woman then called her relatives, who along with some villagers, confronted the man and assaulted him. Prosenjit died of severe injuries from the attack.
