Philadelphia Eagles fan’s welfare check over intense Facebook post goes insanely viral on cyberspace

The extent of a fan’s devotion to an NFL team cannot be measured by any measuring device. We have to assume it is boundless. When the Philadelphia Eagles lost an MNF game to the Los Angeles Chargers back in Dec. 2025, a devout Eagles fan, Jake Beckman, posted an intense message on Facebook. The message prompted a welfare/wellness check by the local police. A welfare/wellness check occurs when police assess a situation that could culminate in a crisis, or when an individual requires urgent assistance because their safety is in danger.The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Emily Bloch interviewed Jake Beckman back then. Beckman said he was a little drunk and was at a low point when Philadelphia lost to Los Angeles in overtime. Jalen Hurts was having a bad night, too. He had committed five turnovers and clocked a personal record for four interceptions and a fumble. Like every devout fan, 34-year-old Beckman turned to Facebook to express his misery. He posted, “Probably going to kill myself. I’ll let you know.” “It wasn’t a real threat,” Beckman told Emily Bloch. “It was a ‘Be right back, gonna go brush my teeth with sandpaper, gargle with diesel, and floss with razor wire’ kind of thing.”But this message turned out to be alarming and intense for those who saw it. An hour later, a uniformed police officer showed up on Beckman’s front porch to assess the situation.“Someone called in reference to your Facebook post,” the officer said. “The Eagles lost, man,” Beckman expressed. “I know,” the officer agreed.“I’m fine, the Eagles lost, man, the dogs are barking,” Beckman said.“I got you; you don’t plan on hurting yourself?” the officer questioned.“Jalen Hurts turned the ball over six times, man,” Beckman said.“That’s right. Yeah. Okay. Alright, man. I appreciate it. Take it easy,” the officer said as he turned over to leave. A subtle smirk could be seen on the officer’s face as he left Beckman’s front porch…This video is still doing the rounds online! Even after six months, people who are unversed in it are reacting to it. In abundance!“You don’t have to be a d**k to the police officer,” one user wrote.Another said, “He posts that on X, nobody cares.
