Woman killed in blast at illegal firecracker unit in Amritsar

Amritsar: Explosion at an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit operating inside a three-storey house in Amritsar on Thursday left one woman dead and another critically injured. The blast triggered a massive fire that engulfed the entire building, causing cracks in the walls and roof while shattering window panes. The deceased has been identified as Suman while Gurpreet sustained serious burn injuries. According to the police, 7-8 people were inside the house when the explosion occurred though several managed to escape. Fire officials controlled the blaze after nearly 30 minutes. Police suspect explosives stored for firecracker manufacturing triggered the blast.
