Chandigarh: Punjabi rap artists A P Dhillon and Karan Aujla, in addition to many others, came out in support of their under-fire contemporary Shubh on Friday, two days after the latter’s India tour was cancelled over an Instagram story which some political groups deemed anti-national.Dhillon, in an Instagram story, hit out at “special interest and political groups” using their public image as a chess piece to further their agenda. “We are just trying to make art that helps people on an individual level, regardless of their colour, race, religion, nationality, gender,” he wrote.The Brown Munde fame singer did not name Shubh, but wrote about being “mindful to everyone's sentiments”. “I try to stay out of all the social mania as it is clear to me that regardless of what I say or do, it is a lost cause. Someone, somewhere is going to spin the narrative to their liking and create more division,” he added. Dhillon's statement comes close on the heels of Shubh clarifying that he had not posted anything anti-national, but just wanted to highlight electricity and internet shutdowns in Punjab and other parts of the country. “There was no other intent behind it and I definitely didn't intend to hurt anyone's sentiments,” he wrote.Aujla, meanwhile, reshared Shubh’s post on his Instagram story. “Ehe duniya da dastoor eh. Fikr na karri veer (this is the way of the world. Don't worry, brother),” he wrote. Dhillon's parting word was to not let hate influence belief.
