Khap says will launch campaign to support Vinesh

Chandigarh: The Sarvajatiya Phogat khap, a caste congregation of Bhiwani district in Haryana, on Sunday announced to launch a movement in favour of Olympian and Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat.Khap chief Suresh Phogat said that injustice was done to Vinesh, and the community will not accept this action at any cost. He said that a meeting will be called by Friday to discuss and finalise the strategy to take up this issue and other related issues. "The ban is wrong, a daughter who wins medals for the country must be respected," he said. Phogat alleged that Vinesh was mentally harassed, and attempts were made to prevent her from competing in tournaments. "If needed, all the khap panchayats of Haryana will unite and launch a major agitation in support of Vinesh Phogat," Suresh Phogat said. MSID:: 130993535 413 |
