Jalandhar Cong alleges voter list manipulation
Jalandhar: Congress MLAs and other leaders of the district have alleged that for the Adampur nagar council election, some named had been added to the voter lists when the election process was already on.Addressing a press conference here on Thursday evening, MLAs Pargat Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Kotli and Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia alleged that rules were being thrown to the wind in Adampur. Providing a copy of the complaint already submitted to the returning officer, Kotli said the name of a ruling party candidate was added to the list after the notification for the elections was issued on May 11.Kotli alleged that they had already detected addition of around 300 voters in four wards after the stipulated date. "In one case, names of employees of a hospital have been added by using only front side of the Aadhaar cards, and concealing the hind side which carries their addresses. Officials are being pressurised to add their names," the Congress MLA said, claiming that he was apprising the senior officials about the same, but their issues were not being addressed and they were all prepared to move the Punjab and Haryana high court.
Pargat Singh said in the municipal corporation election in Jalandhar, voters were added. "The AAP is replicating the same model in Punjab, for which it levels allegations against the BJP in other states," he added. Former MLA Rajinder Beri and former Adampur NC president Darshan Singh Karwal were also present on the occasion.
