Hisar road rage case reclassified as accidental death; 3 held
Hisar: A road rage case initially registered as murder has been reclassified as accidental death after investigation, with police arresting three persons, including a truck driver.Accused Bantiram of Dhani Mahu in Bhiwani, and Sombir and Randeep of Talwandi Badshahpur village in Hisar, have been arrested. Police said a truck and a car used in the incident have been seized.The case was registered at Azad Nagar police station on April 26 on a complaint by Rahul, a resident of Meham in Rohtak, whose brother-in-law Anil Kumar died in the incident.According to the complaint, Rahul and Anil were returning on a motorcycle on April 25 night when soil fell on them from an overloaded truck. An argument followed. Rahul alleged the driver called others, leading to a scuffle, during which casteist abuses were hurled and Anil was pushed under the truck.Police said CCTV footage and witness statements indicated that during the altercation, villagers intervened and asked the truck driver to leave. Amid the commotion, Anil came under the rear tyre as the vehicle moved. The driver reversed after being alerted, but he had suffered fatal injuries.Based on these findings, police dropped the murder charge and invoked sections related to causing death by negligence. Provisions of the SC/ST Act have also been added. Further investigation is underway.
