Family of three found dead on child’s 3rd birthday

Chandigarh: A couple and their three-year-old daughter were found dead at their residence in Kurukshetra's Prem Nagar Colony on Monday.Jatinder Kumar (30), a railway mail service employee, and his wife Manju (28) were found hanging from a ceiling fan hook alongside their daughter, Advika. Preliminary investigations suggest the couple was struggling with depression linked to the health of their daughter, a special child diagnosed with paralysis. The couple allegedly ended their daughter's life on her third birthday before dying by suicide. Kumar sent a message to his brother-in-law and left behind a suicide note. Upon receiving the message, the relative rushed to the house at 6:30 am to find the bodies. Police officials reached the spot and shifted the three to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead. Kumar is survived by his mother, Bimla Devi, and a brother residing in Canada. His father, a retired Punjab Police ASI, had died around six months ago. Inspector Baljit Singh, SHO, Krishna Gate police station, said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
