Chandigarh: A Panchkula court on Monday exonerated former CBI judge Sudhir Parmar and four others in a 2023 corruption case.
The decision was delivered by Rajiv Goyal, additional district judge, who also exercises powers as a special judge for PMLA and CBI cases—while disposing of applications moved by both the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the accused.
While the detailed orders are yet to be uploaded, defence counsels confirmed the development. Others exonerated in the case include builders Roop Bansal and Lalit Goyal, Parmar's nephew Ajay Parmar, and their acquaintance Anil Bhalla.
The ACB filed the case in April 2023 at its Panchkula police station. While the investigation was in progress, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated its own probe after registering an enforcement case information report (ECIR) linked to the matter.
Although the ED effected the arrests during the ACB's investigation, the ACB filed its chargesheet last year, and the case was transferred to the court in Feb this year.
