Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday hailed the Punjab School Education Board's
Class X results, in which the state recorded an overall pass percentage of 94.52, and felicitated the three students who secured the top ranks.
Mann congratulated Harleen Sharma, Manimahesh Sharma and Riya Rani, who scored 99.38%, 99.23% and 99.23%, respectively. "These students have achieved success through sheer hard work, dedication and determination. They will become role models for future generations," he said.
The chief minister announced direct admission for the three toppers to Schools of Eminence in any stream of their choice and handed over cheques of Rs 50,000 each.
Referring to the recent NITI Aayog report on school education, Mann said Punjab had emerged as the top-performing state in primary and middle-school education, surpassing Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi.
"For the last four years, the Punjab govt has consistently focused on teacher training, modern teaching methods and smart classrooms," he said.
Sharing snippets from the interaction on X, Mann said the results proved that Punjab's children lacked "no talent or capability" when provided proper opportunities.
