Charkhi Dadri: Charkhi Dadri has emerged as Haryana's top-performing district in the ongoing digital Census exercise, recording 65% completion of house listing work, according to official figures released on Wednesday.
The district's figure is much higher than the state's, where enumeration has been completed in just 13,723 of the 51,849 house listing blocks (HLBs), taking the overall completion rate to 26.5%. Work is underway in 38,088 HLBs, while operations are yet to begin in 38 blocks.
Officials described the Census as Haryana's first fully digital enumeration exercise, with teams using mobile applications, geo-tagged verification systems, digital mapping tools and online data portals for data collection and monitoring.
Authorities said the shift from paper-based enumeration had improved speed, transparency and accuracy while reducing duplication and paperwork. They also claimed that cyber-security safeguards and privacy protocols were in place to protect citizens' data.
Charkhi Dadri completed work in 662 of its 1,019 HLBs to secure the top spot. Yamunanagar followed with 63.8% completion and Sonipat with 62.8%. Fatehabad, Mahendergarh and Jhajjar also crossed the 50% mark.At the other end, Ambala recorded 8.58% completion, while Sirsa remained the slowest district with only 4.5% work completed.
Officials attributed slower progress in some districts to dense urban settlements, migration patterns and verification challenges.
Among municipal corporations, Panipat emerged as the best-performing urban body with 39.7% completion, followed by Rohtak and Sonipat. Gurugram MC recorded only 3.4% completion, while Manesar MC remained at the bottom with 1.5%.
