He also prayed for Amarinder Singh's speedy recovery and wished him a long life and good health so that he may continue serving the public.AICC general secretary and Punjab affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday that if Captain Amarinder Singh wished to return to the Congress, the party high command would consider the matter, fuelling speculation about a possible comeback. The statement came after the Directorate of Enforcement summoned Captain Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh in connection with a 2016 case relating to alleged violations of foreign exchange rules under the Foreign Exchange Management Act.Extending support to the former CM, Congress MLA Pargat Singh criticised the BJP for the ED summons. He alleged that soon after Amarinder Singh publicly questioned his position within the BJP and remarked that the party did not understand Punjab, central agencies moved against him.
Last year, Amarinder Singh stirred political discussion by describing the BJP as "rigid" in its functioning, in contrast to the Congress, which he termed more flexible and consultative in its internal processes. He criticised "lack of engagement" with ground-level workers in the BJP, stating that decisions were often taken at the top without adequate consultation. In comparison, he said, while the Congress also took decisions at the national level, its leadership sought inputs from state units.MSID:: 128312663 413 |
