Along with marks, students should focus on honing skills: Sukhu
Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday stressed that along with good marks, students should focus on developing skills, confidence and capability. While interacting with students at the newly upgraded CBSE Government Senior Secondary School in Chhota Shimla — the same institution from which he completed his Class 10 education — Sukhu reiterated the state govt's commitment to bringing transformative reforms to the education sector.Sukhu urged the youth to actively support the anti-drug campaign by reporting traffickers and spreading awareness. He encouraged senior students to participate in the Anti-Chitta Rally scheduled to be held in Shimla on June 5.During an interactive session, students raised several questions related to the CBSE system, career opportunities and the CM's personal experiences. Responding to the students, Sukhu said his visit was aimed at understanding the shortcomings in the education system directly from students so that necessary improvements could be made effectively. Highlighting infrastructure and staff shortages, a student informed the CM that the school currently lacks a Physics teacher and has only one Political Science teacher. In response, Sukhu assured the students that all vacant posts in the newly converted CBSE school would be filled before June 30. He also said students would now get access to a wider range of subjects under the CBSE curriculum. Sukhu said the govt was working towards making govt schools among the best in the country and ensuring quality education for students in public institutions. He added that teachers in govt schools were highly qualified, hardworking and selected through competitive examinations.MSID:: 131310312 413 |
