Administration cracks down on illegal colonies in Ambala Cantonment; demolitions carried out in 21.5 acres area
In a major enforcement drive, the team of the District Town Planner (DTP), Ambala, carried out demolition action against six illegal colonies spread over approximately 21.5 acres in the urban area of Ambala Cantonment. The action was taken as part of the ongoing campaign against unauthorized land development.
According to official information, in village Chandpura, Tehsil Ambala Cantonment, demolition was conducted on two illegally developed colonies covering about 10.1 acres of land. Similarly, in village Sareri, also under Ambala Cantonment tehsil, three illegal colonies spread over approximately 10.2 acres were demolished. In addition, one illegal colony covering nearly 1 acre in village Ranwala was also demolished.
During the operation, the enforcement team completely dismantled the network of kutcha (temporary) roads laid out within these illegal colonies. Moreover, 27 under-construction structures found at the sites were fully demolished to prevent further unauthorized development.
The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of Duty Magistrate-cum-District Town Planner Rohit Chauhan, Junior Engineer Ravindra Panwar, and the SHO (Enforcement), along with a heavy police force, ensuring law and order throughout the operation.
Speaking on the occasion, DTP Rohit Chauhan appealed to the general public not to fall prey to the misleading assurances of property dealers and refrain from purchasing plots or shops in illegal colonies. He cautioned citizens against investing in such unauthorized developments and strictly advised not to undertake any construction activity in these areas.
The administration reiterated that departmental action against illegal colonies and unauthorized constructions will continue in the future. Residents were urged to verify the legal status of land and colonies before making any property-related investments to avoid financial loss and legal complications.
