Chandigarh: A 21-year-old youth allegedly died by suicide at his house in Badheri village, Sector 41 area, Thursday. The deceased, Mohd Gulzar, was living alone in the house.
Police said a handwritten note was recovered from the spot. Gulzar’s neighbour, Sabana, informed the police after finding him hanging from a rope inside the house.
A Sector 39 police team reached the spot, secured the body and initiated inquest proceedings. A forensic team was also called to examine the scene. The body has been kept at the GMSH-16 mortuary for post-mortem.
Preliminary investigation has ruled out foul play as no external injury marks were found on the body. However, police said the exact cause of death would be ascertained after the autopsy report. They are also examining the note and questioning the deceased’s family members and locals.
