Koraput is poised for economic growth with the foundation stone laid for Green Ply Sandila Private Limited. Collector Manoj Satyaban Mahajan highlighted the project's potential to boost the tribal economy, with an investment exceeding Rs 600 crore. The company will establish paper and plywood manufacturing units, generating 1,300 direct jobs and numerous indirect opportunities.

Koraput: The foundation stone of Green Ply Sandila Private Limited was laid at Ranikana and Lunguri under Semiliguda block of Koraput district on Monday. The project is among 27 initiatives across 12 districts launched virtually by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi.Speaking at the district-level function, Koraput collector Manoj Satyaban Mahajan said the project marks a proud moment for the district as it will boost the tribal economy. Over Rs 600 crore will be invested in the company, creating at least 1,300 direct jobs and several hundred indirect employment opportunities for residents, he said.Mahajan added that the administration, in consultation with the company, will provide skill development training to local youths to ensure their employment in the unit. Every effort will be made to see that the company is commissioned as per schedule, he said.The company will manufacture paper, plywood and other forest-based products. At the state-level ceremony in Bhubaneswar, Green Ply Sandila Pvt Ltd managing director Rajesh Mittal announced that two plywood factories would be set up at Ranikana. The units will not only create job avenues but also pave the way for overall development of the area, Mittal said.
