Odisha CM distributes appointment letters to over 1, 600 individuals

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to 1,686 individuals across various govt departments during the 11th Nijukti Mela held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar on Monday.In his address, Majhi highlighted the dual role of govt jobs as both a secure livelihood and a platform for public service. He urged the newly appointed officers to uphold integrity and work diligently within the framework of govt policies.The Nijukti Mela saw appointments across several key departments, with the health and family welfare department leading with 982 recruits. Other departments included water resources (413 appointments), agriculture and farmers’ empowerment (with 34) and skill development and technical education (with 136), among others.Majhi emphasized the govt’s transparent recruitment process, which has successfully filled 30,032 positions in the govt sector over the past 15 months through 11 Nijukti Melas. He reiterated the govt’s target to fill 65,000 govt positions within the first two years, ensuring a level playing field for all candidates based on merit.Majhi also addressed the broader challenge of employment for the youth, noting that over one lakh individuals have found employment in both govt and private sectors in the past 15 months. He assured that any hint of malpractice in recruitment processes is met with strict action, maintaining the integrity of the system.Deputy CM and minister of agriculture and farmers’ empowerment, K V Singh Deo, also extended his congratulations to the new appointees, reaffirming the govt’s promise to provide 1.50 lakh appointments over five years.
