Govt colleges, univs told to boost usage of Shaktishree app
Bhubaneswar: Higher education department on Wednesday directed all public universities and colleges under its administrative control to ensure onboarding of maximum students on Shaktishree mobile application, along with its active usage.In a letter issued to registrars and principals, the department stated that the application was launched to promote safety, awareness, counselling, grievance support and overall well-being of students studying in higher educational institutions across the state. The Shaktishree mobile application was recently launched by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the presence of Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Designed as a dedicated digital support platform for students, Shaktishree offers several student-centric features, including SOS assistance, safety check-ins, counselling, grievance redressal, institutional updates and emergency support services. The app aims to strengthen communication and ensure timely assistance for students in need. Students can register themselves on the application using their SAMS (Students Academic Management System) ID and SAMS-registered mobile number.
During registration, students are required to provide details such as the name of their institution, emergency contact number and other necessary information to activate and access the services available on the platform. The department said that all students enrolled in higher education institutions are eligible to use the application. Institutions have been advised to create awareness among students through notices, orientation programmes, classroom communication, social media groups and other suitable platforms to encourage downloads and registrations.
