CM trims carcade to four vehicles
Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday further pruned his motorcade to four vehicles, with only three escorting his official car, as part of austerity measures. Earlier on May 13, Majhi had reduced his carcade from 12 vehicles to seven following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advisory in the wake of the West Asia situation. The development came a day after the CM issued an eight-point advisory to reduce fuel consumption by the administration. Earlier, the chief minister directed the officials to hold all govt meetings, reviews, training sessions and workshops in virtual mode unless physical presence is unavoidable. Only essential personnel will attend them in person and others will join online. Also, from June 1, all new two- and four-wheelers procured for govt offices will be electric, with petrol or diesel vehicles allowed only in exceptional cases; hired cars must also be EVs.
