Woman climbs mobile tower over alleged land fraud in Jabalpur’s Sihora, rescued after counselling

Jabalpur: A woman climbed a mobile tower in Sihora town of Jabalpur district on Wednesday, alleging that her relatives and a local businessman fraudulently grabbed her land, triggering panic in the area and drawing a large crowd at the spot.

The woman, identified as Sonam Mallah, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Sihora, climbed the tower located in Ward No. 4 and refused to come down, claiming that she did not receive justice in the alleged land dispute. The incident caused traffic congestion in the surrounding area as onlookers gathered near the tower after news of the incident spread.

Police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and launched efforts to safely rescue the woman. Officials spent considerable time counselling and persuading her before bringing the situation under control.

According to preliminary information, the woman alleged that two of her relatives, along with a local businessman, conspired to illegally take possession of her land. However, police said the allegations are yet to be independently verified and statements from the other side are still awaited.

Authorities said a detailed inquiry is being conducted into the matter and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
