Bhopal: Four members of a family were injured after a group of men allegedly barged into their house and attacked them with rods and sticks in Chhola area past midnight on Friday. Police said the incident stemmed from an old rivalry linked to a property dispute.
According to police, the incident took place in Shiv Nagar Phase-I, where complainant Hariram Sahu, 53, lives with his family. Hariram told police that around two years ago, accused Pritam Singh Rajput had allegedly encroached upon his house, following which he lodged a complaint at the police station. Though the encroachment was later removed, the accused allegedly held a grudge against the family since then.
Police said that around 1.30 am on Friday, Pritam Singh Rajput along with his two brothers reached Hariram’s house and allegedly started abusing the family while knocking on the door. When the family refused to open the door, the accused allegedly vandalised the electricity meter installed outside the house and also attacked the door with iron rods.
As the commotion escalated, Hariram opened the door, following which the accused allegedly entered the house and assaulted family members with rods and sticks.
During the attack, Hariram’s son Abhishek Sahu sustained serious head injuries after being hit with an iron rod.
Hariram, his daughter-in-law Rani Sahu and daughter Amrita also suffered injuries in the assault.
Police said members of Hariram’s family also retaliated during the clash, resulting in injuries to the other side as well.
Police have registered a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide on the complaint of one party. Cops said a counter case will also be registered based on the complaint of the other side. Further investigation is underway.
