'Implicated' in police case, man climbs telecom tower with wife and toddler; family rescued after 6-hour drama
BHOPAL: A man climbed a telecom tower along with his wife and two-and-a-half-yearold daughter in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar on Thursday.Incident led to a six-hour rescue operation involving police, district officials and the Army. The incident took place on a hillock behind Peeli Kothi in the Cantt police station area, where Balram Ahirwar climbed the tower around 1.30 pm with his wife, Krishnadevi, and their toddler.Police and district administration teams rushed to the spot after receiving information, while a large crowd gathered nearby. As repeated attempts to persuade the family to come down failed, authorities called in the Army and arranged safety nets around the base of the tower as a precaution.Officials later sent Balram’s brother up the tower to speak with him. Following discussions, the family safely descended around 7.30 pm after nearly six hours atop the structure.According to relatives, Balram alleged that the Police had implicated him in a case and assaulted him. Family members claimed he was upset over alleged police action and had demanded that the station in-charge of Motinagar police station be called to the spot before he agreed to come down. Cops are looking into the circumstances that led to the incident.
