Bhopal: A 26-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and attacked with a knife by a group of miscreants who stopped him on the pretext of asking for a lift in Khajuri area. The accused allegedly beat him with belts and injured his hand in the knife attack. Police registered a case against five accused under sections related to attempt to commit culpable homicide and other offences. All the accused are currently absconding.According to police, the complainant, Makhan Ahirwar, a resident of Tumda village in Khajuri area, works as an earthmoving machine operator. On the night of May 19, around 10 pm, he was on his way from his house to his in-laws' residence when a man near Rajiv Nagar Tapra asked him for a lift.Police said that as soon as Makhan stopped, four other associates of the man also reached the spot. The accused allegedly questioned him about roaming in the area and then, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, started assaulting him.The attackers allegedly beat Makhan with belts and during the assault, one of them pulled out a knife and attacked him, causing injuries to his hand.After the incident, the injured youth went to a hospital for treatment. On Thursday night, he approached Khajuri police station and lodged a complaint.Police registered a case against the accused identified as Raju, Raj, Akhilesh, Abhishek and Manoj and launched a search for them.
