Bengaluru horror: Man stabbed to death by wife after domestic dispute; accused arrested
BENGALURU: A 28-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his 27-year-old wife, following a domestic dispute at an apartment building in Munnekolala, east Bengaluru, in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased was identified as Raju Rajputh, while the accused has been identified as Raveena Kaur Rajputh.
The couple, married for seven years, hailed from Assam and have a three-year-old daughter.
According to police, the couple had rented a one-bedroom apartment on the fourth floor about 20 days ago. Police said the couple would periodically return to their native place for a few months and, on each return to Bengaluru, would rent a new house.
Raveena, who had earlier worked at a spa and salon, and Raju, a labourer by profession, were unemployed. Police said Raju was addicted to alcohol and gambling and frequently harassed his wife for money, leading to frequent quarrels.
On Wednesday night, the couple reportedly had another heated argument around midnight, prompting neighbours to complain to the building's security guard. When the guard visited the house, Raveena apologised for the disturbance and requested him not to interfere in their personal matters. The guard then returned to duty after warning them.
However, the argument reportedly continued. In a fit of rage, Raveena allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Raju twice in the chest. Hearing Raju's screams, a neighbour alerted the police helpline (112). Hoysala police reached the spot around 4.30am. Raveena, who was in a state of shock, reportedly asked police to rush her husband to the hospital, believing he was still alive. However, he was found dead.
Raveena was arrested by Varthur police on charges of murder based on a complaint filed by a neighbour. Their daughter is currently with her in custody and will be produced before the child welfare committee, police said.
