Delivery agent strangled, dumped in drain in Bengaluru for stalking girl; 4 arrested
Bengaluru: Yelahanka police Monday arrested a 44-year-old daily wage worker and three of his associates on charges of murdering a food delivery agent, whose body was found inside a rajakaluve (storm drain) in Yelahanka Friday last, with preliminary police investigations revealing that he was strangled to death. Police said the man was killed because he was stalking and harassing the daily wage worker's minor daughter."The victim was identified as Ramesh Kumar, 36, a food delivery agent who was living in Peenya. On Thursday night, he had visited a bar near Yelahanka with a few men. Thereafter, he was murdered," an investigating officer said.Police found that four men who had accompanied Kumar to the bar were in Bagalkot, north Karnataka."We detained the men and they spilled the beans. Prime accused Eeraiah Dundaiah said Ramesh was harassing his minor daughter to marry him. In 2023, the girl had filed a complaint with Bagalkot police against Kumar for sexually harassing her. Police arrested Kumar and he was in judicial custody for one year. But he continued to harass the girl even after coming out of prison, whereupon she was secretly relocated to a relative's house in Yelahanka," the officer said.
One month ago, Kumar learnt that the girl was in Yelahanka. "He took a room on rent in Peenya and started working as a food delivery agent. The girl told her father that Kumar was following her every day, forcing her to marry him," the officer said.Dundaiah, along with three associates — Chinmaya Marapati, 29, Chetan Madar, 26, and Vinayaka Guruva, 19 — came from Bagalkot to Bengaluru Thursday and, in the evening, took Kumar to a bar. After getting him drunk, they strangled him to death near the rajakaluve and threw the body into it, police said.MSID:: 130798931 413 |
