FIR against 2 for West Asia conflict comments
Bareilly: Police in UP have registered FIRs against two men in their 20s for allegedly making "objectionable" comments on India's stand related to the current conflict in West Asia and circulating them on their social media accounts.In the first case, a 12-second video posted on Instagram by a man from Bareilly's Izzatnagar area triggered protests by a right-wing group. Police said the clip contained "objectionable content" about the US-Israel war against Iran.FIR in the case was lodged after Himanshu Patel, president of Hindu Jagran Manch's youth-wing, shared the purported clip on ‘X', and demanded action. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against Salim Ansari under BNS section 353-2 (circulating objectionable statements through electronic means) on Sunday. Police said efforts are on to arrest him.In a separate incident in Budaun's Usahait area, an FIR was registered against Ibrahim (only first name available) for "writing abusive posts against those backing Iran's opponents". The complaint in this case was filed by Shiv Gupta, district president of Karni Sena's Kisan Morcha. Ibrahim currently works in Bulandshahr.SHO of Usahait, Devendra Singh, on Monday, said that Ibrahim's social media accounts are being examined as part of the probe, and "further action will be taken accordingly".(Inputs from Asif Ansari)
