ALLAHABAD: Different organisations and educational institutions of the city joined the entire nation in celebrating the
constitution day, on Tuesday.
The function at the North Central Railway (NCR) started with reading out of preamble of constitution by the additional general manager Arun Malik which was joined by large number of officers, staff and supervisors posted at its headquarters. As this year’s constitution day main focus is fundamental duties, everyone were reminded to their 11 duties, laid down for every citizen of India acts as framework for our responsibilities towards our nation and society.
During the year-long celebration of constitution day major activities have been planned by NCR. These include brochures, banner, posters, standees, flyers etc. related to constitution of India would be installed at prominent locations of offices, service buildings, stations etc. Besides, awareness campaign focused on citizen duties shall be organised on all over NCR in next one year. Rallies, walks, runs etc. on the theme of constitution shall also be organised on all divisions, said Malik.
At Allahabad division office of NCR, DRM Allahabad Amitabh administered the preamble reading to officers and employees in the portico of DRM office. A nukkad natak was presented by Rahul Chawla & group at Allahabad Junction (city side) passengers hall (concourse) under which passengers were made aware about fundamental rights and fundamental duties of every citizen of India.
The 11 fundamental duties were explained in detail to passengers too.
At department of Medieval & Modern History, Allahabad University, an event was organised to mark the samvidhan diwas (constitution day) celebration. In order to encourage the student to read and follow the principles laid down in constitution of India, an essay competition was organised. Vibha Maurya, Aprajita Singh and Roshni Yadav won the first, second and third prize in this competition. Speaking on the occasion the HoD Prof Yogeshwar Tewari said that our constitution represents the best of Sanatan (eternal) culture. The documentaries on the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh and the making of Indian constitution were shown to the students.
Likewise, constitution day was also celebrated at Rajarshi Tandon girl degree college. Prof Anuradha Agarwal, HoD department of Political Science, AU, delivered a lecture on the occasion on the constitution of India and the challenges today. She elaborated on the making of the constitution and the challenges it is facing today. She said that the youth has to realise today that they are the people who have to decide which direction the constitution will take.
